Feeling Comfortable and Protected: A Knix Period Underwear Review

Who is Knix?

Knix was founded in 2013 by Joanna Griffiths as a solution to the lingerie market, which was struggling for most women. She wanted to offer more and better lingerie that was comfortable, good-looking, and suitable for everyday wear. To do this, she needed to make most of the products leak-proof.

Griffiths wanted the Knix line to be not only leak-proof and comfortable, but also as ethical and sustainable as possible. The Knix product line is designed entirely in the company’s Canadian facilities, but is not manufactured there.

They are manufactured overseas in China, Seoul, and Italy. It is one of the few companies transparent enough to inform consumers how its materials and facilities meet compliance requirements. According to the brand, all materials and facilities are certified by:

  • WRAP – Accreditation Body for Socially Responsible Factories in the Sewing Sector
  • SA8000 – Quality Assurance Accreditation for Social Responsibility and Accountability
  • Oeko-Tex – A quality assurance body that ensures that all products used in finished products meet quality standards and do not contain toxic substances

While I really like all of this and the transparency, I would also like to see more information about the sustainability of the materials used. This level of transparency is hard to find anyway, and this small detail alone sets them apart from the competition.

As a bonus, they use real women of different sizes, shapes, and skin tones as models. This underscores their inclusivity and the claim that their products are suitable for all women. A fantastic message they want to spread.

Pros

Various absorbency levels

Several underwear designs to choose from

Soft, comfortable fabric

Cons

At $23, it’s more expensive than other period underwear.

It can feel a bit thicker in the crotch area and may therefore not be as comfortable for everyday wear.

Knix Period Underwear Leak Performance

When I ordered these, I was worried about the color. I wasn’t sure if the entire panty would be lighter. Luckily, all the panties have a black lining in the crotch area, which put me at ease in case of leakage.

The first day I was able to wear them after receiving them was the third day of my cycle. So, it wasn’t nearly as heavy as it was the first day or two. However, I didn’t feel or notice anything the entire time I was wearing them. There was no noticeable odor or wetness, which was quite unexpected.

I wore my other period panties the next day, and there was a noticeable difference, even though my period was lighter. I noticed a slight odor, and they definitely didn’t absorb moisture as well as the Knix panties.

I washed my Knix panties and wore them again on day five. Once again, I didn’t feel anything, and it was wonderful! The panties have been worn and washed several times now, and their performance hasn’t changed. The fabric also still feels just as soft and smooth as it did when I got them.

Knix Period Underwear Fit & Style

I had previously tried period underwear from another brand and was curious to see if there was a noticeable difference between it and Knix. Since they offered several different styles of underwear, I wanted to try two different styles to see if the fit and performance differed. So I ordered the Knixy Lace Leakproof Bikini and the Knix Leakproof Bikini Period Underwear.

After placing my order, I was able to track it through my Knix account. Although the tracking information never updated after the pending information period, I actually received the item within 7 business days. This was within the expected delivery window, so there must have been a system error. But all’s well that ends well.

Both panties were a little tight the first time. But after washing and wearing them once, they fit perfectly. The brand actually mentions that this is normal for their products, so it shouldn’t have surprised me.

Still, they were incredibly soft and comfortable to wear all day. I love that they’re seamless, like most of my other panties, because I hate marks. Plus, they kept me cool all day, so I barely noticed them.

Is Knix Period Underwear Good Quality?

The fact that Knix uses quality-certified facilities and materials speaks volumes about their products. Although they don’t offer a warranty on their products, they seem to last quite a long time. The fabrics used in their product line are also known to last longer than some other, more typical lingerie products.

These products include:

    • Seaweed Fiber
    • Modal
    • Polyurethane Film
    • Polyester
    • Nylon
    • Spandex

Although the products are designed to last, not all of them are particularly environmentally friendly, so keep this in mind if you’re looking to purchase more environmentally friendly products.

Are Knix Period Underwear Worth It?

Knix period underwear is a great choice for anyone who needs and/or wants a little more protection than regular underwear. All underwear offers at least some degree of moisture control and support. Whether you need it just for light periods, mild incontinence, or as extra protection during heavy periods, Knix has the right thing for you.

However, the prices can be a bit high. Once you’ve tried them out and found the right size, I recommend buying the multipacks to reduce costs. There’s often a discount if you buy three or more of the same product. This is another great way to keep Knix within your budget.

Whatever the case, the products they offer are a great service to most women out there, and they’re definitely worth trying out—at least once.

Knix Coupons & Discounts

Knix offers a discount when you first sign up for their email list. This discount is typically 10% off your first purchase. Shipping is also free on orders over $75 after all coupons and discounts have been applied.

Knix also offers its own rewards program called Top Drawer Rewards. Once you sign up, you’ll receive 25 bonus points. After that, you’ll collect points with every purchase, which you can use for discounts on future purchases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Anyone looking for moisture-wicking underwear or swimwear is sure to have some questions. This is especially true since this technology is still relatively new to the market. So before you spend a lot of money on Knix products, we want to answer the most frequently asked questions to help you find the best products for your specific situation.

What is their return policy?

Unfortunately, all Knix underwear is non-returnable. This is supposedly due to hygiene reasons. I was able to return underwear that didn’t fit to other companies with the original tags and packaging, as long as the hygiene strip was still intact. This is quite disappointing. Especially since it can be difficult to determine the correct size before trying on a product.

On the plus side, all other core products can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery. This does not apply to face masks, gift cards, accessories, gifts with purchase, or original shipping costs. The only other exceptions are orders from the Knix Last Call section or orders with a 20% discount or more. These items can either be exchanged or returned for credit only.

How does period underwear work?
Knix period underwear features Fresh Fix technology. This technology includes three different protective layers to keep women clean and dry.

Dorai-Bath-Mat-Logo1

The first layer is the honeycomb layer, which consists of 87% algae fibers and 13% modal. This layer wicks moisture and odors away into the middle layer. The middle layer is made of 100% polyester and is designed to lock in moisture and odors until washed.

The third layer consists of a polyurethane film that forms a waterproof membrane. This membrane ensures that no liquids and/or spills get onto your clothing.

How do you care for Knix period underwear?
The brand aims to make using its products as easy as possible. Fortunately, this also applies to washing. For optimal results, wash all Knix products in cold water with mild detergent.

The super leak-proof underwear can be tumble dried on a low heat setting, but all other products should be hung to dry if possible. Never use fabric softener or bleach. All these simple steps will help extend the lifespan of the products.

Knix Period Underwear Summary

Overall, Knix period panties are a fantastic option for most women. As a transparent company, they’re constantly working to improve their products and expand their offerings. The fact that the panties are seamless and buttery soft doesn’t hurt.

If you’ve tried other period panties before, these seem to go the extra mile in terms of feel, fit, and performance. While the price may seem a bit high for a company that doesn’t offer returns or exchanges, the fit system is spot on. So it’s hard to find anything negative to say about them, at least try them out and see for yourself.
